Projects ~ Simple Concert Eyes: Soft Blackened Lilac, using MUA and Sleek Palettes

'It's time for another eye look I created recently for another concert. I visited not so long ago a concert from deathmetal band Cradle Of Filth as an concertreporter. My Dutch readers can read my report from the concert <here> Sadly enough it's my last concert for the time being as an reporter. I didn't fit the style of my local music broadcast, so that's why I had to quit. However, I got nice compliments on my Dutch writing, but it simply didn't fit. So, continue with another project as an journalist.'
'Anyway. Here's my look I did for my last concert for the time being.'
Pic is a little hazy... sorry!

1
'After I primed my eyes with Essence Eyebase, I took an round shaped brush like on the picture (unknown brand). I dipped it into this taupe/ lilac color from the Starry Night Palette by MUA.'
2.
'I darkened the crease a bit with an small blendingbrush by Make Up Studio, along the black from the same MUA Starry Night Palette.'
3.
'Next I took my Elf Blendingbrush, and Cappucino from my Sleek Au Naturel Palette, to swipe it lightly under my brows.'
4.
'To finish the eyes, I used a black felt tip Eyeliner from Catrice close to my lashes on my lid. Also used from Catrice on my waterline a mini khol pencil in black, (came in one of my Big City Life Palettes) and Volume+ Curl Mascara.'
5.
'Time for some blush by Catrice (Terra Brown, discontinued) and some Yves Rocher CreamLipstick. (Tomette, I'm not sure if this one is still available)'

'There it is, my finished look I whore to Cradle Of Filth... I can't look into your brains offcourse, but I hear you think: "This is what you whore to Cradle Of Filth???? Not that spectaculair for an Deathmetalband..." Well, I was there for work in the first place, not to impress Dani Filth and his band... The only female member of the band need to teach me some deathmetal make up, lol, allthough I'm not sure if she wear any by herself. I couldn't see that because of the smoke. And the other members dissipated me with their faces. Hmmm, I think I can learn from their make upz anyway...'

^_^
Picture belongs to Miss Tiffany Peters, I don't own it... so, all credits to her!

I have an video up by myself, but sadly enough, my cell didn't record the sound. You can find my Cradle Of Filth concert video <here> and <here>.

Projects ~ Youtuber Emmawoodall85 Inspired Aqua & Purple Eyes with an Easy Twist

'When I saw Youtuber Emmawoodall85's Contest video, I had to remake her Aqua & Purple Eyes from her All Smoked Out Serie. For GlitterKitty's ShoppingHunt I did this look again but then with an Easy Twist, so this isn't the actual entry for Emma's Contest.'

'Let's start with the blog tutorial. Here's what I used for this Aqua & Purple Eyes with an Easy Twist.'
After applying your primer, start of with this shaped brush and MUA's PopTastic Palette. Use the 1st minty color on the second row in your inner corner of the lid, then with the same brush go in with the 1st purple color on the first row of the PopTastic Palette, put that on your outer V.
Going on with MUA's Glamour Days Palette. Add the matte flesh color from the 1st row, 4th color under your brows with an blending brush. Then, take an eyeliner brush and line with the blue color on the 1st row, under your waterline.
Line your upper lid with an black liner, put some black liner on your waterline if you like, and apply your mascara.
I choose this lipstick from Barry M in 73 Mulberry to complete the look.
Fullface me...

'I know you girls are curious, so here are the products I used for my official entry to Emmawoodall85's Contest.'
Again the MUA PopTastic Palette. Marked color with an ^_^ is used.
Used also this Sleek Monaco Palette. I used the colors Aquamarine and Magenta Madness.
I grabbed this Sleek Bohemian Palette too. Marked color with ^_^ is the used one.
Finally I used this Pressed Ben Nye shadow in White.

'I know you girls are a little too much curious, and I bet you want to see the final contest entry result. So here it is. I know it isn't the best, but at least this is my Inspired Smoked Out Aqua & Purple Eyes version.'

Brand Loves And Hates ~ Black Eyeshadow Brand Comparison

'This time I want to compare some black eyeshadows for you girls. It's not one brand Loves And Hates, but I made this a comparison/ black eyeshadow Loves And Hates. I found that not every black is the same, so let me put some brands wich make  black eyeshadows in love and hate sections. Discussed brands are Sleek, NYX, MUA and Ben Nye.'

'Let me tell you something about Sleek Cosmetics. Sleek made at this moment only their palettes, and almost every Sleek Palette contains a black. It should be nice if Sleek make also single eyeshadows. Especially the black one should be a single, cause that way Sleek don't need to put almost in every palette the same black. Anyway, I swatched some blacks out of a couple of Sleek Palettes. As you can see, they are almost the same.'

GLITTERKITTY LOVES

'Best black eyeshadow without any doubts is Sleek. It's so pigmented and really black, and it isn't that much effort to get an nice swipe. When I washed it off, you still see some black marks, so the lastingpower is really good. It should be an good shot from Sleek to make an single version of it. Price from one Sleek Palette is €7,50- €8,50, depending on where you buy it.'

'Second place is for NYX Trio. As you can see on the swatch pic it's pigmented and also black. It's a slightly bit less black then Sleek. You need an magnifying glass to see that though. This black also swipes beautiful, like butter. At Holland webshops, NYX Trio's are €6-€8, in the USA you pay for an NYX Trio $5-$7.'

'Third place goes to MUA Cosmetics for their Shade 20 matte eyeshadow wich is also an black.  It's not that black as the Sleek one, but black enough and still easy to swipe with. MUA is an UK brand. It should be sold for only £1.'

GLITTERKITTY HATES

'The worst black eyeshadow out of this bunch is without any doubt the Ben Nye one. So disappointing, cause Ben Nye is the most expensive one. The pigmentation isn't the greatest. If you want to get an nice black swipe, you need to rock this guy very hard. Maybe the best way to use this thing is wet, but using it dry it's a no go and a pain in the butt. I paid €10 for it, in my eyes a big waste of money. If I knew the Sleek Eyeshadows 3 years earlier, I skipped the Ben Nye black. Really.'

BRAND COMPARISON AND CONCLUSION

'Now time for the brand comparison. From top till bottom I swatched Sleek Bad Girl Palette Noir, Black NYX Trio, MUA Shade 20 (matte) and Ben Nye ES- 99 Black.'
Enlarge pic for better comparison

'My conclusion: A good black eyeshadow shouldn't be that expensive. Just take a good look around before you buy an expensive one. Like Uriah Heep should say: "It's a hard way to learn." They're right.' ^_^

Projects ~ Another Concert Look with Sleek Badgirl Palette: Forest Green Eyes

'A while back, I did allready a look with the Sleek Bad Girl Palette. This time I used that palette again, but now I will use the greens. You will find my Badgirl Blue Eyes <here>. I whore these green eyes during one of my concerts as an concertreporter.'

'Here is everything I used and how I did it.'
After priming my eyes, I used this MUA eyeshadow in Shade 1 in the inner corner till one third of the lid
Then I used Intoxicated from the Badgirl Palette all over, and Envy in the outer V of the lid
Under my brows as an highlight I used this color from my 28 Neutrals Palette. It's the first color from the second row. I used black liner on my waterline and black mascara
Lastly I finished this look with this Creme Lipstick by Yves Rocher in Mauve

'Some fullface pics are funny too.' ^_^
Sorry for the too light light, eh...
